GETTING STARTED:
There are some general rules we follow during training at StandAlone MMA. StandAlone MMA does not teach students martial arts to encourage violent behavior outside the gym. We reserve the right to refuse training to anybody.
NO EGOS, BAD ATTITUDES OR POLITICS!!!
Etiquette:
• Avoid foul language.
• Respect everyone.
• Be on time for class.
• Always shake hands before sparring.
• NEVER get too aggressive while sparring, train hard but do not try to hurt people intentionally!!
• No Shoes on the mat.
• Refrain from horseplay, talking, and interrupting while your instructor is teaching.
• Keep yourself properly groomed, cut your nails short and have clean training gear
• Wear sandals or shoes when going to the bathroom
• Pay your dues in time
• No excessive talking or noise during training
• Follow safety equipment requirements for training and sparring
• Try to bring in a clean gym towel and extra shirt every time
• Shower as soon as you return home
Gear:
There are a number of items all students should obtain at their earliest convenience. This equipment not only protects yourself but your training partner as well. These items will allow you to perform the necessary exercises and drills.
Muay Thai/MMA striking – Thai shorts, hand wraps, boxing gloves (16oz or 14 oz training gloves), mouthpiece, shin guards and groin protectors. As you progress you will need headgear for optional sparring.
No-Gi Jiu-Jitsu/ Grappling: Mouthpiece, groin protector, shorts and rash guard
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu: Gi, mouthpiece, groin protector
MMA:
Shorts, rash guard, mouthpiece, hand wraps, boxing and MMA gloves (training versions), shin guards, headgear
We have boxing gloves and shinguards at the gym for beginners to use but you are encouraged to get your own gear.
